Effective 12 June 2026 · Applies to the Matchday NZ mobile app
Matchday NZ is a football fixtures and prediction game. We built it to be fun and
private. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it
short because we collect very little.
The short version: You can use the entire app anonymously. We don't show ads,
we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. The only personal
detail we ever store is an email address - and only if you choose to sign in.
What we collect
An anonymous device ID - a random identifier created on your device so your
predictions can be saved and synced. It isn't linked to your identity unless you sign in.
Your predictions - which team you pick for each match, and your resulting
points, streaks and accuracy.
A display name - only if you choose to set one, used to show you on
leaderboards and in leagues. You pick it; it can be anything.
League information - if you create or join a private league: the league name,
join code, optional "stakes" note, and the display names of members.
Your email address - only if you choose to sign in to sync across devices.
It's used solely to send your one-time sign-in code and to link your data to your account.
What we do NOT collect
No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or device identifiers for advertising.
No advertising and no third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
No passwords - sign-in uses a one-time emailed code, so there's nothing for us to store.
How we use your information
Only to run the app's features: save and sync your predictions, calculate scores and standings,
power leaderboards and private leagues, and sign you in if you ask to. That's it.
Where your data is stored, and who else is involved
Supabase - our backend provider, which securely stores the data above and
handles sign-in.
Email delivery - when you request a sign-in code, our email provider sends
that single email. Your email isn't used for marketing.
Score data sources - we fetch live match scores from public football data
providers (such as football-data.org and ESPN). We only read scores from them; we never
send them any of your information.
App stores - distribute the app. We never sell or share your personal data
with any third party for their own purposes.
Keeping or deleting your data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly inside the app
(More → Delete my account) or by request. Full details on our
Account & Data Deletion page. If you never signed in, your
data is tied only to an anonymous ID - clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes it.
Children
The app is a general-audience sports game and is not directed at children under 13. We don't
knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and post the new version here.
